Participants from various countries meet at the blended intensive program

From 16-20 October LiepU International relations department organized five days training program: “How to enhance cooperation between people from different countries in the higher education: improve your intercultural competence” (BIP)BIP is a short, intensive training program that uses innovative forms of teaching and learning, including online collaboration.

During five physical days and one remote meeting, 23 participants from Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Slovenia had the opportunity to learn in depth about the differences between the cultures of different regions of the world. During seven seminars, participants learned in depth about how to effectively work with people from the USA, Ukraine, Dominican Republic, Malaysia, South Africa, Costa Rica and Japan, with a particular emphasis on different collaborative situations in higher education. The seminars were chaired by authentic representatives of these countries: experienced lecturers, heads of international relations departments; all seminar leaders were with an experience in working or studying outside their home country.

Over the training program of five days, participants not only studied intensively, debated and complemented what they heard, but also experienced an extensive cultural program, hearing the folk ensemble “Saule I tuvāk”, visiting Namīns and singing along with the folklore group “Atštaukas”, finally introducing the historic sites of Karosta, the former military part of Liepaja town.

At the end of the program and the issuance of certificates on last day, participants stressed that they were pleased that the program included practical information that would benefit them when returning to their universities and working with students and colleagues from other countries; it was also mentioned that the week was very inspiring and full of new knowledge; new cooperation will also be established thanks to the networking with participants from different countries.
