MikroTik Academy

Liepaja University has concluded the cooperation agreement with the Latvian company “MikroTik” to create the “MikroTik Academy” at Liepaja University. “MikroTik” is a Latvian company which was founded in 1996 to develop routers and wireless ISP systems. “MikroTik” now provides hardware and software for Internet connectivity in most of the countries around the world. As part of the cooperation agreement, the company equips a specialised computer network system laboratory at Liepaja University. LiepU lecturer Kaspars Lauris has obtained Teacher’s certificate of the “MikroTik Academy” and carries student training in the framework of the “MikroTik Academy”.

In this laboratory students studying information technology have the opportunity to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge on the design of computer networks and the principles of their operation. As part of the study process, students are able to take the MicroTik MTCNA (MicroTik Certified Network Associate) certification exam. Successfully passing this exam, students are certified to work with MicroTik's computer-network hardware, which can expand future career opportunities.
