Ambassador of France in Latvia visits LiepU and gives lecture to students

Today, 8 October, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary posted to Latvia at the France embassy, Aurelie Royet-Gounin and the Director of the French Institute in Latvia - Véronique Dussaussois visited Liepaja University to have a meeting with LiepU Rector, Professor Dace Markus and Chief Specialist of International Relations department Erika Lauberga and French Teacher, Professor Olegs Belajevs.

During the meeting ambassador was introduced with Liepaja University international and study activities and with active partnership universities in France - West Catolic University, University of Western Brittany, University Savoie Mont Blanc, University of Lorraine, University of Orlean, University of Pau and Pays de l'Adour. There were also information given on full degree students who are choosing to study French and English at LiepU. Veronique Dussaussois was wishing to LiepU to have more students who are choosing to study French at LiepU.

Both sides were speaking about the admission process results and how pandemic influences the study process. Amabssador was interested from which countries LiepU full degree students are coming from, which are most popular study programs for them. From the embassy side H.E. Aurelie Royet-Gounin offered to continue the cooperation to bring to LiepU guest professors from France.

After the meeting with LiepU authorities, Amabssador Aurelie Royet-Gounin gave a lacture to study program's European language and culture studies students on common EU values and youth mobilities abroad. Erasmus+ student from University of KwaZulu-Nata in South Africa - Mzwandile Wiseman Zulu adds: "I am suprised how easy for young students is to meet such high level diplomats at the university. In South Africa we would never have such an opportunity. Great to see how united here in Latvia are people from differenyt EU countries!"
