Master level study program’s “Ecotechnologies” students participate online in the international conference

On Friday, April 24, students of the professional master's degree program “Ecotechnologies” virtually presented the results of their research at the international student scientific-practical conference “The Welfare Society: Experience and Perspectives”. The conference was organized in cooperation with Klaipeda (Lithuania), Liepaja and Cadiz (Spain) university. It took place in three sections headed by Klaipeda University professors, together with representatives of Liepaja University: Director of the study program “Ecotechnologies”, Lilita Ābele and Professor Roberts Jūrmalietis.

During the opening of the conference, the participants were welcomed by Liepaja University Vice Rector for Studies Māra Zeltiņa and the Dean of Faculty of Science and Engineering – Anita Jansone.

During the conference a broad range of topics related to public sustainability assurance were discussed: management of bio-waste and plastic waste, sourcing of natural colouring materials from agricultural waste, eco-technology approaches to municipal waste water treatment, innovation marketing and marketing communications, water in the environment education, the use of ecotourism in education and treatment, hypotherapy, environmentally friendly solutions in the field of mouth health and other topics.

Director of the study program, Head of the Centre for Circular Economics, Lilita Ābele stresses that the conference has now become a tradition for our students and the published compilation of the submitted articles of students is served as a supplement to obtained Liepaja University master diploma.

Aiva Mače, 1st year “Ecotechnologies” student adds: “In a view of the current situation in the World, technologies allow remote participation in such conferences. It was interesting to learn about other countries' experience and a pleasure to see that LiepU students were able to show themselves at a really high level."
