Sherzodjon Choriev from Uzbekistan doing research at LiepU on Ethnoculture of the Baltic nation in the Turkestan

From 1st March 2020 Liepaja University hosts Sherzodjon Choriev, PhD, associate professor at the National University of Uzbekistan, Faculty of History – Department of Source science and archival studies. Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan was founded in 1918 and is considered the first and leading higher educational institution not only in Uzbekistan, but also in Central Asia. Over the centuries-old history of its activities, the university has achieved significant achievements recognized worldwide in various fields of scientific knowledge, and has trained more than one hundred thousand highly qualified specialists, providing full-fledged personnel to all sectors of the national economy.

Researcher is receiving the Latvian state scholarship for three months period administrated by the Latvian State Education Agency. Despite the covid-19 crisis, he has decided to stay at Liepaja and to continue to do the research on the Ethnoculture of the Baltic nation in the Turkestan (1867-1924).

Daiga Straupeniece, one of the leading Researcher at the Insitute of Humanities at LiepU, is his scientific consultant in the research work at Liepaja University. Sherzodjon Choriev explains: “Daiga Straupeniece gives advices and recommendations on improving the subject plans of the scientific work and, most importantly, on explaining information about the ethnocultural history of the Baltic Nation”.

During his stay at LiepU, first online classes on Ethnoculture of the Baltic nation in the Turkestan has been delivered to Baltic language and culture and European language and culture students.
