Subject Aim

Explore the manifestations of creative photography in art and commerce. Understand the intersection points, differences and applications of different photographic directions. Tasks and conditions of use of applied photography.

Tasks: To develop theoretical background knowledge of photographic image making, to promote conceptual thinking and basic practical skills in analogue and digital photographic methods.

Subject Content

The module provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the basic principles of photographic image formation, through historical, large-format photography processes, students will learn skills in working with analog photographic materials, will learn the principles of a black-and-white photo laboratory.

Aspects of art photography, as well as aspects of documentary photography, principles of photo reportage will be learned.

At the end of the semester, students present their work in an exhibition of creative works, as well as other completed tasks are shown in a work exhibition, as a result of which they receive an evaluation.

Expected Results

Students will acquire practical and theoretical knowledge of the basic principles of photographic image formation, through historical, large-format photography processes, they will learn skills in working with analog photographic materials, they will learn the principles of black-and-white photo lab.

Students acquire the ability to creatively interpret both artistic and commercial tasks by choosing appropriate technical means for creating photos. Students understand different genres of photography - Reportage, documentary and staged photography, studio photography, etc. differences and interactions, and apply the acquired knowledge to realize their artistic or commercial goals.
