Subject Aim

Build and develop the competences and skills of a designer-illustrator to realise creative ideas. Develop the ability to hear-read and imagine, observe and see, capture and portray the characteristic. Make creative imaginative drawings in different styles and find own style. Acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of the basic principles of digital illustration.

Subject Content

The course is prepared to provide theoretical knowledge and learn practical skills in the art of illustration.

Topics included in the course:

●      history and contemporary trends of illustrations,

●      substantive and imaginative understanding and visualization of various texts,

●      composition,

●      various technical techniques and tools in drawing

●      digital illustration techniques

●      getting to know different styles by trying, copying,

●      the search for an individual style.

 

Expected Results

The student gained knowledge about different types and styles of illustrations in cultural history and contemporary illustration art.

Able to connect theoretical knowledge with practice.

The student is able to create illustrations, supplementing or explaining the text, in appropriate form and images.

The student has acquired basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills in creating illustrations in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator

Requirements to gain ECTS

Sketching and experimenting with different types and styles of illustrations for the module works and producing illustrations for the book and digital environment. Evaluation on a 10-point scale
