VISUAL LANGUAGE: TECHNIQUE

Field Work language Acad. cycle ECTS credits Semester Course code
Art LV ENG Bachelor 6 Autumn MākZ2A27
Subject Aim

To develop students' abilities to draw freely a wide variety of natural, man-made forms in 2D using different materials and techniques. To introduce drawing materials and their uses. To develop drawing and painting techniques.

To develop students' ability to use colour to represent three-dimensional objects on a plane.

To practise monochrome and polychrome solutions of simple objects. To learn about the use of different materials and to develop technique and quality of performance, fostering a critical attitude towards the result.

Subject Content

The module provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills in drawing and painting using various visualization materials and techniques. To develop the ability to draw and paint objects in space and nature, to cultivate knowledge of perspective, and to gain basic knowledge by expanding the range of interests and topics, maintaining the progression to more complex graphic solutions.

Develops a creative personality and develops skills in creating works of art.

Expected Results

Understand and learn to construct objects by drawing and painting in a refined technique, following the progression from construction to tonal solution, including an understanding of proportions, perspective and composition.

Gain the ability to appreciate the tonal differences in a colorful environment, learning the techniques of color mixing and intensity diversification through practical painting. Ability to evaluate successes and failures.

Requirements to gain ECTS
