Faculty Subject Area Cycle (Bachelor / Master) Semester (Autumn/Spring)

TECHNOLOGY FOR NEW MEDIA

Field Work language Acad. cycle ECTS credits Semester Course code
Art LV ENG Bachelor 6 Spring MākZ2A33
Subject Aim

 Build understanding, skills and competences in the application of digital prototyping techniques and technologies.

Objectives:

To create understanding, skills and competences in the application of digital prototyping techniques and technologies.

Tasks:

Provide knowledge with sensor types and operating principles;

To provide knowledge with 3D graphics, CAD software for prototyping technical frameworks

To develop a prototype of a remotely controlled device - electronic circuits and framework

Subject Content

The course provides knowledge and skills in the development of controlled and controllable devices, data acquisition and transmission. Students make sensor connections based on the programmable controller Arduino Uno, programming takes place using the programming language C ++; organizes data transmission via WiFi and Bluetooth modules, gains experience in program library applications for connections of various actuators (LEDs, LED strings, DC and stepper motors, etc.). At the end of the semester, students develop a prototype of a controlled device with organized data acquisition, transmission, processing, and storage.Students are able to design it in a secure framework using the prototyping techniques learned in the module.

Expected Results

Students will know the basic principles of creating controllable and controllable devices;

will be able to create sensor connections with several types of programmable controllers, organize data transmission channels (WiFi, Bluetooth, LoRa, ZigBee, etc.), send data to a remote server and receive processed information;

Students will be familiar with the application of program libraries for the corresponding controller, development of software structures, work functions (subroutines), program debugging.

Know the basic principles of mechanics, the applicability of 3D printing and laser cutting, the principles and history of FabLab, know various CAD software and know how to purposefully use Fusion 360 to create a functional design.
