Form creation for new media

Field Work language Acad. cycle ECTS credits Semester Course code
Art LV ENG Bachelor 6 Autumn MākZ2A22
Subject Aim

Develop and improve understanding of spatial thinking and imagination, the spatial structure of the environment, and the concept of tectonics.

Creating scale, proportion and structure in spatial objects.

Exploring the technical, constructive and decorative properties of different materials and building mutual compatibility and understanding.

Technical skills in modelling and making

Subject Content

The course provides students with a refined sense of spatial environment and understanding of proportion.

Introduces traditional construction materials and novelties, creating spatially shaped objects and understanding of material compatibility.

Learns graphic and spatial solutions of objects in connection with materiality. Students learn to present the functional expressiveness of the form in various effects and expressions. Skills are created to model spatial objects, create a sequence of works and choose materials to be used.

Expected Results

The use of creative new materials in development of spatial objects, in accordance with tectonically successful solutions.

Ability to apply diverse compositional elements and basic modeling principles.

When creating, a developed sense of form and material, dimensional thinking, artistic imagination is represented. Skills to represent the necessary forms with means of formation are developed.
