Subject Aim

1. To provide an understanding of the language vocabulary as systemic formation, its development and the latest recognitions.
2. View word formation issues.
3.  To give an idea of ​​the language regional, social and stylistic options.
4. Provide an overview of the major dictionaries.

Subject Content

The course describes the basic unit of language – word (lexeme), its structure, meaning, etymology, variants. Name issue in three aspects: structural, semantic und functional. Deals wiht homonymy, synonymy, antonymy und hyponymy issues and phraseology.

 

 

Expected Results

Lexical competence - knowledge of vocabulary and the ability to use it in relation to the context.
Semantic competence - understanding the importance of meaning and ability to use it

Requirements to gain ECTS

Theoretically learned course, successfully completed independent work tasks, participation in seminars and practical lessons successfully passed examinations
