To introduce students to the English literature of the 20th c.

Subject Content

This course will introduce students to the defining features of the 20th c. as represented in English literature. Readings will consist primarily of short stories and introductions into the life and work of several key authors.

The short story - Basic compositional elements of a short story

World War 1 - Overview of literature about the first global war

Post-colonial literature - Overview of origins post-colonial literature

Modernism in literature and the arts

Expected Results

Knowledge of the 20th century English literature, knowledge of the various authors and their creative work in the 20th century with the literary characteristics.
Literary work’s linguistic and literary analysis, basic skills

Requirements to gain ECTS

Participation in seminars and practical classes, independent work performed,satisfactory passed test and exam.
