Subject Aim

The study course aims to introduce the phonetic base of the Latvian language and its graphic alphabet.

To develop skills and abilities in the physiology and acoustics of Latvian language sounds.

Subject Content

The aim of the course is to introduce the students  into the basic Latvian phonetics  and its graphic alphabet and develop skills and abilities of the Latvian language sound physiology and acoustics. The students will exercise their  listening skills through records done by  the native speakers, which  will develop and improve their  conversation  skills. 

Expected Results

Students are able to use regularities of Latvian Phonetics in their daily practice.

Requirements to gain ECTS

Acquisition of theoretical material, successful completion of independent work, active participation in practical classes (70%); reading prepared text and unprepared text, creating phonetic tasks; successfully passed the test
