Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
The ten-point accepted by the Ministry of Education and Science has been used for the formal assessment of students’ knowledge. The following documents approved by the university Senate (Board) regulate the evaluation of the learning outcomes:
Regulation of the studies and higher-level studies
(approved by the Senate on 20.12.2010; amendments on 19.12.2011);
Rules on the course examinations
(approved by the Senate on 20.12.2010);
The rules on the final examinations and state examinations
(approved by the Senate on 20.12.2010; amendments on 17.12.2012);
Rules on obligations and rights of academic staff and students
(approved by the Senate on 21.02.2011).
At the end of each course, students have final assignment or exam. In most of the learning courses, students have to perform several tests providing feedback on learning progress and the ability to determine the degree of achievement of learning outcomes during the semester. In most cases, the students' home assignments, e.g., problem solutions, software code, presentations, reports, essays, etc., have been assessed by grades, but in some cases teacher marks “submitted / not submitted”. For the courses implemented in virtual learning environment Moodle, assessments of students’ assignments and tests are available during the whole semester. The final assessment of each learning course is available in university information system www.lais.lv
The cumulative scoring is applied for final assignment that motivates students to work throughout the semester. Exam grade is either result of a single test, or it may be calculated as sum of the evaluation of the semester work and assessment of final test. At the beginning of the learning course, students has introduced with the scoring system and completion requirements. The description of the evaluation criteria and methods for achievement and assessment of the learning outcomes has included in the course curricula.
Graduation Requirements
The student must complete 252 ECTS (168 CP) and all programme requirements.
Mode of Study
Full-time study is available
