INTERCULTURAL WORLD AND JAZZ MUSIC JAMBOREE
18-31 July 2011
Ethos and Objectives
The Carpathian Basin is immensely rich in cultural heritage that has a great influence on contemporary Hungarian music. On the grounds of Hungarian Jazz our summer course aims at offering an immersion into the world of contemporary music without genre boundaries from Medium, Medium-up swing through Ballad, Be-Bop, Jazz waltz, Funk, Fusion, Latin –American and Ethno to the ’cutting edge’ of today’s performers. Through the integrating power of music, participants will have the chance to acquire experience in playing an amalgam of various styles of jazz and the ethno musicological heritage of the Carpathian-Basin saturated by interesting melodic variations, now by finely transparent, other times by powerful rhythmic patterns. The sessions are tutored by the faculty of our Jazz Department, all well known performers with international reputation.
At the end of the course a certificate of participation is issued with a total of 10 ECTS credit points.
