Ethos and Objectives
The summer course in Hungarian Language and Civilization combines the pleasures of acquiring new knowledge, experiencing a new culture, making new friends, and learning a new language in a happy and relaxed environment. The program includes Hungarian as a foreign language (HFL) courses, lectures on Hungarian culture and field trips to the most famous and popular spots in Hungary. In Budapest our students can enjoy the colorful programs on offer in the Hungarian capital city and the atmosphere of an exciting European metropolis; while the field trips to the countryside provide a variety of enriching cultural experiences.
Students are provided with course books and useful course materials. Modern interactive teaching methodology is supported by specialized books, dictionaries and audio-visual materials.
At the end of the course a certificate of participation is issued with a total of 10 ECTS credit points for the 2-week course and 20 ECTS for the 4-week-course.

2-week-courses: 50 lessons/45 minutes
4-week-courses: 100 lessons/45 minutes
Language classes run every morning between 9.00 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. from Monday to Friday with optional extra tutorials in the afternoons 2 times a week.
Additional Lectures on Hungarian Culture: 90-minute-lectures 2 times a week in the afternoon on a vast variety of topics such as Meeting of Cultures in Hungary, Contemporary Hungarian Society, The Story of Budapest, Hungarian Architecture in the 20th and 21stCenturies, The Art of Film Making in Hungary, Folk Arts and Heritage in the Carpathian Basin, Wine& Gastronomy, etc.
Cultural Programs: during the week and at week-ends organized in order to put the theory into practice by visiting sights of our cultural heritage (Szekesfehervar, Veszprem, Eger, and Lake Balaton), going to concerts, museums and summer festivals.

In Budapest on Gellért Hill offering one of the most beautiful panoramas of the city and the River Danube, in Szekesfehervar, the royal seat of the Hungarian Kings and Queens, in KJU’s dormitory.
