Her stay at LiepU is assured under the activities of European Social Fund project No. 8.2.2.0/18/I/003 “The perfection of academic staff of Liepaja University in the areas of strategic specialization – speech therapy, preschool education and primary education”.
Guest Professor has defenced two Doctoral dissertation – one in Philology, other in Pedagogy, she has specialized in in two language teaching methodology, she has written several books. Must add that it is one of the project objectives to attract foreign academic staff in academic work and scientific research in the areas of strategic specialization – speech therapy, preschool education and primary education in order to ensure the quality of the content in these areas and to expand of the partnership networks.
From 17 – 21 December Professor Elena Protassova was giving lectures on development of teachers professional skills to 1st year bachelor level students of study program “Teacher”, she also was seeing and analysing student prepared presentations. Professor says: “All students were well prepared, there were a lot of new ideas, some ten presentations were excellently made”.
In order to gain data for the research, Elena Protassova along with LiepU project coordinators visited two schools and one pre primary school where is implemented bilingual teaching approach: Elementary School No3, where they had meetings with authorities, teachers and where they could see teaching – learning materials; Secondary School No 2, where she had a chance to observe lessons, take interviews as well as participate in Christmas event with teachers and pupils; Pre primary school “Pasaciņa”, where they had a chance to speak with Director and Methodologist, to see teaching – learning materials for Latvian language as foreign language.
Guest Professor also had a meeting with researchers from the Institute of Educational Sciences at LiepU to speak about joint project, publication possibilities.
In total in this project till September 2022, at LiepU there will come to give lectures and to do research work five experienced guest Professors from Finland, Sweden, Italy, India and USA.
