Liepaja University held the 4th "International Staff Week 2023"

From 15 to 17th March 2023 Liepaja University held the 4th International Staff Week 2023 "Erasmus for all? New Approaches and Challenges" which brought together 40 participants – guest lecturers and administrative staff from international relations departments from 22 different partner universities, 11 European countries – Malaysia, Germany, Belgium, Canary Islands, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania, Poland and Lithuania.

The International Staff Week took place in several parts. LiepU students and staff, and partner university lecturers and administrative staff from international relations departments were able to attend various open lectures, participate in practical workshops dedicated to Erasmus+ projects,  get new contacts and enjoy a rich cultural programme of Liepaja. Guests were visiting the Liepaja City Council, where they were introduced on the title of Liepaja as the European Capital of Culture in 2027, which followed by guided excursions around Liepaja city, Karosta and ended in the interior museum "Margaret Hoijer's guest house".

The aim of the International Week was to offer students a variety of open lectures about artificial intelligence tools in academic writing, smart technologies in engineering, pedagogy and translation, to present Liepaja University and its experience in the implementation of the Erasmus + programme projects, to share experiences and to learn from good practices on challenges of the Erasmus+ exchange projects from other partner universities, meet new and existing partnre university colleagues, in order to promote and strengthen international cooperation in the future.

During the practical workshops partner university guests could thoroughly learn about different Erasmus+ challenges such as the support provided to Erasmus+ participants with lower opportunities and Ukrainian students, implementation of combined intensive programmes (BIP), Erasmus+ digital tools in higher education, how Erasmus+ participants cope with stress and emotional stress, experience of the University of Latvia of working in the European University Alliance project  FORTHEM, as well as the workshop given by LiepU Fulbright scholar from the USA M.Dujon Johnson on the professional development for academic and administrative staff on how to write an effective CV and find academic and professional opportunities and scholarships in America and Canada.

One of the members of the International Week, Snieguolė Zalatorė from Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), shared her impressions about this event: “It was an outstanding week at your university and the beautiful city of Liepaja. Hope we can all get together in 2027 for the Cultural Capital "Reunion." Carolina Moutinho from Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (Portugal) acknowledged: “This was my first International Week and will always remain in my heart.”
