Kurzeme Institute of Humanities (Kurzemes Humanitārais institūts – KHI) started its work in the September 2007.
KHI aims at conducting scientific research and popularizing Latvian cultural heritage, especially language, folklore, art and literature in Kurzeme region.
KHI works hand in hand with doctoral students and young scientists in research projects in the field of humanities.
KHI organizes scientific expeditions on cultural heritage and today’s processes.
It focuses on four research areas:
• Latvian Folklore
• History of Latvian Literature
• History and Theory of the Theatre and Cinema
• Latvian Diachronic and Synchronic Linguistics
