Liepaja University has a strongly developed further education trend. It was started as an idea for further education and development of our own graduates; now LiepU academic staff teaches people concerned in courses of different fields and intensity and in seminars with the help of professional development programmes and interest education.
Further education goal of Liepaja University is adult education, participation in the development of adult education system and improvement of lifelong education policy.
Professional development programmes
Teacher further education courses. Further education courses for teachers are implemented in compliance with the state defined priorities for the development of pedagogue’s general competencies, general personality competencies, competencies in the particular educational field, competencies for education management process and for facilitating broadening and sharing experience.
Courses for employees of enterprises, institutions are organised in case of demand in such fields as staff management, organisation of bureau work, project management, legislation, marketing etc.
Courses for civil servants. Professional growth courses for civil servants are organised in accordance with State Administration School request. Civil servants are given knowledge of public speech, of the person’s data legal protection, of office work, of assessing civil servants’ work and other fields.
Liepāja University further education offer includes also Master studies and programmes for obtaining supplementary qualification both in full-time and part-time study forms.
LiepU offers also different self-development courses to the people from the city of Liepāja and the district for learning foreign languages, courses in music, psychology, information technologies, art and in other fields.
The popular-science lecture cycle “Mazā akadēmija” was started in February 2006 with the goal of educating community members and strengthening the LiepU links with the population of the city and region. The lecture cycle explores a wide variety of themes, which are presented in a clear, understandable way. Lectures take place twice a month and they are free of charge for people concerned.
